I have been selling my Organic Bath & body Products for 5 1/2 years now! I am getting to do what I have always wanted to do, be a Work at Home Mom and raise my daughter, all while providing for 1/2 of the expenses! It took a lot of work, but I am now almost 6 years in and I am so busy I recently hired a part-time helper! It is also a way for me to not only provide for my family, BUT help others too by offering an affordable option to purchase for their family!

Such a great idea to have the forum! A wonderful learning tool!

I look forward to connecting with other soapers

Melissa

Selling Your Soap

After about 6 months of soap making, I am going to start selling my soap. We have 4 shops that want to carry our product. Two of them say I need to totally wrap the bars, as people do not want to buy soap that others have touched. The other two shops say to only put a label around the bar so customers can still smell the scent. I am looking for the least expensive, but still sell soap. Any ideas???
Thanks

Sellling Soap

I shrink wrap my soaps , I am still trying to find the right label. Shrink wraping was a challenge , it took a lot of messes to get it right

I know some large soap shops sell them without packaing , the less packaging good for the enviroment , they have glass bins and togs to put them in cellophane bags.

but they have deep pockets to sell the idea of no packaging , still the packaging is another chance to sell your soaps and add creative names and list the ingredients

Still the homemade public is divided into less packaging or more product safety , its a balance

you do need to list the ingrediants to protect the public for allergic reactions

I had a problem with the wrap label so i now shrink wrap and then have a band label and i have a tag with the ingrediants tucked inside

Honestly, I purchased a large

Honestly, I purchased a large quantity of them years ago and don't recall from who.

I searched via Google for 'shrink bands' an had some 'fun' finding the right length and width to fit over our bars.

They are available from several online sources of packaging products.

A heat gun from Home Depot is what we use to shrink them, but a decent hair dryer will also work.

Steve, I like your wrap

Steve,
I like your wrap method. Where do I purchase shrink-sleeves?
Thanks, Eddie

Hi ejldixie Congatulations on

Hi ejldixie

Congratulations on the store connections!

We wrap our Summer Bee Meadow soaps in shrink-sleeves over paper bands.

They can be handled, but there's an opening at each end to sniff.
